Within the fashion industry transparencies surrounding the human cost, water and chemical use, and carbon emissions due to manufacturing and transport have long been suppressed from the public. Without access to necessary information, consumers find it difficult to make better educated and more sustainable choices. We propose a government regulated and mandated ‘label’ system that is required on every garment sold in Australia, that reflects the true environmental and human cost. This tag will include a QR code that when scanned will direct the consumer to a website with further information.
