The Arnsdorf resort capsule collection for Spring/Summer 2021 was developed for the David Jones ‘Sourced with Care’ edit, highlighting mindfully made Australian brands.
My collection includes a collaboration with Indigenous contemporary textile designer Helena Geiger, a Gumbaynggirr woman whose work is inspired by her County on the North Coast of NSW. Helena creates earthy-toned contemporary prints using techniques including shibori and batik on natural fabrics such as linen, cotton and silk.
I was inspired by the natural colours and textures of Karijini National Park in Western Australia, and wanted to learn more about the cultural significance of Country and art to our First Nations People.
As an industry leader in sustainability, Arnsdorf shares a common passion with Indigenous Australians in its values and objectives of preserving natural environments. The collection explores a new perspective and strives to educate consumers on the importance of Indigenous culture and art, and the deep connection of Indigenous people to their Country.
Arnsdorf’s consumers are hardworking, professional women, who are mindful of their environmental footprint and are passionate about social justice. They hold a deep respect for the traditional owners of the land on which they live, and endeavour to celebrate a wide range of cultures and art forms.
The collection uses lightweight natural fabrics and designs that are flattering on the female figure. It provides the perfect balance of comfort, practicality and elegance whilst respectfully portraying the beauty of Indigenous culture and art.
