My project is titled Hypnagogia, the experience of the transitional state between wakefulness and sleep in humans, what inspired the materials used to create this garment. Unable to sleep one night, agitated and uncomfortable with my itchy bedding, I felt my senses heightened. I could feel my surroundings and the sheets beneath me. I started to question how often people get new sheets, and where those old ones go.

After some research I realised mass waste of bedding material, heightened by stigma of purchasing used sheets. This was really apparent to me as I walked into op shop, after op shop, and barely ay bedding items had been touched. I wanted to create a garment that purely utilised secondhand bedding materials to normalise the stigma.
