I was appalled to witness mountains of textile waste heading straight to landfill whilst volunteering at Bloomill op-shop alongside encouraging donations that are essentially lifeless and unconsciously creating a haemorrhaging world. Through guilt, I decided to focus on the renewal of the life of denim – an everyday material I wanted to experiment with and manipulate into something new and exciting. My goal for this project was to create a small denim collection to sell and share with others through minimal production to highlight how special up-cycling can be. 50% of earnings will be donated to innovative biodegradable textile research.
